Love is Sacrifice

Love is Sacrifice

Love is sacrifice.

When you are in love with someone, you always try as much as possible to make sure that your beloved is comfortable and also feels loved. This is done right from staying up late to enjoy conversations with your beloved, through to making time in your busy schedules, so as to have a quality time with the one you love. Also, no matter how difficult and stressful this may be, you may not even feel an iota of pain or discomfort because you are showing love to the one you care about.

This is a natural phenomenon you can’t do away with. That is what happens when you love someone. You willingly make sacrifices for your beloveds so that they would look upon them to conclude that you really love them. That is what love is all about; it bores down to sacrifice. Love is sacrifice.

However, do you make the exact sacrifices for God? We all claim to love Him with every fiber in us but do we actually stay up every night to talk with  Him? When was the last time you even cancelled an important appointment to either be in church, or to have an alone time with God? It’s been a while, right? In as much as we always profess our undying love to Him, our actions and inactions sometimes prove otherwise. We are mostly adamant about making sacrifices for Him although we claim to be His. This bores down to certain attachments we refuse to forfeit for His sake and even lifestyles we still indulge in though we call ourselves His children.

In fact, it is very difficult to let go off certain lifestyles and behaviors when we become a part of Him. Come to talk of friends and loved ones you would have to leave behind for His sake. It isn’t easy at all but that is the best. Your scarifices for Him even proves your love more. This isn’t to say that God is an authoritative boss that imposes His will on you. No! Rather, cutting off certain people and lifestyles rather helps us to stay in His Holy presence.

He did His part of the bargain by allowing Jesus to lay down His life for us, so as to ensure our salvation (John 3:16). So, why can’t we do same? He isn’t even asking for so much like our lives. All He wants is to have our utmost attention and to be our greatest priority. The pleasures of this world would look very appealing and would also crave our attention too  but our decision to turn our full attention to Him and surrender all to Him emulates our love for Him.
