Let Go; And Let God!

LET GO; AND LET GOD!
As Christians, loving one another and living in harmony with everyone is the obvious thing to do. We are admonished by the Holy Book to love our neighbors just as we love ourselves; even to the point of always forgiving those who offend us. However, no matter how much strong of a Christian you are, one thing that you would mostly find difficult to do, is to forgive. It is very easy to think we are not offended by others till the truth of unforgiveness stares you in the face.
The reality of forgiveness and unforgiveness becomes so obvious when you are directly doing the work of God. You would obviously be dealing with humans, who are very fallible. Day in and day out, offenses will come and go. In fact, it has even gotten to a point where it is to be expected as a minister of God. But then, how do you handle them?
Do you harbor so much pain in your heart that you cut off your offenders? or make a conscious effort to stand by Matthew 18: 21- 22?
Peter asked Jesus, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven”
Yes, seventy times seven! This doesn’t mean that you are supposed to forgive people 490 times in day. However, what Jesus is saying is that, you and I must forgive as frequent as possible.
In as much as it would be difficult to effect that, we are entreated to be like our Lord – irrespective of the fact that we go against His word, He still forgives us, and wants us in His kindred as His.
Therefore, as His children, we are to emulate His ways and forgive as often as possible. This on the other hand is not an easy thing to do. It is very difficult to overlook the mistakes of our offenders, and forgive them.
Nevertheless, if Jesus was able to do it, so can we! Anytime you find it difficult to forgive someone, just go to the Lord in prayer; He is sure to help you. Allow Him to take charge of your heart, and He is sure to fill it with love.
