PRAYING WITHOUT CEASING?

PRAYING WITHOUT CEASING?

Praying without ceasing?

Prayer isn’t really a step of our journey, it is actually the journey.

« Pray without ceasing… »

1 Thessalonians 5 :17.

To begin with, what is prayer ?

Prayer is the communication between God and us. It can simply be narrowed down to talking to God.

As humans, we generally tend to soften up to people we regularly communicate with. If you are almost always in touch with another person, you are naturally drawn to the person, and it becomes very easy to talk to this person about anything and everything that concerns you.

Also, as you keep communicating with this person, you get to know him/her better.

Conversations that would have been very difficult to engage in, tends to become much easier between two people who are constantly in touch with each other.

It is basically the same thing when it comes to God. All He is telling us in 1 Thessalonians 5 :17, is to be constantly in touch with Him. When His presence is always invited into our midst, it gives us the opportunity to know Him better and see His other dimensions.

He is a good God and a gentle father.

He doesn’t force His will down our throats, so it is up to us to constantly invite Him by praying to Him always.

However, when the Bible says to pray all the time, we aren’t being told to be on our knees from morning to evening and praying without doing anything or engaging in other activities.

All God wants is for us to be in a constant fellowship with Him. This creates a bond between us and Him, and allows Him to be involved in all aspects of our lives. When you are always in touch with God, His presence is made évident in your life and activities. The fun fact about this is that, we also get to know Him better, as well as find reason behind what He does, and see the good of it all.

You can pray to Him anywhere and everywhere. He is omnipresent, remember ?

While working, you can be talking to Him. When doing your chores, invite Him in for a chat. Even in your bad times, He’d be more than ready to know what’s on your heart.

Don’t limit God only to bedroom, closet and washroom. Do not only speak to Him in the morning, and wait till night before you tell Him about the day then go to bed.

Take Him through the journey of the day ; tell Him how you feel about your boss, talk to Him about that subordinate. Present your plans before Him, and He will steadily take you through all that concerns you.

He is not just your father and the creater of the universe. He is a friend. So He’d be more than ready to be called in by you, before you take any step in life.

Just talk to God always, and His glory, might and nature will be revealed to you.

When we finally get to understand that prayer is a continual conversation with God, our relationship with Him deepens to new levels.
