HOLD YOUR REINS!

HOLD YOUR REINS!
As humans, we have been created to be empathetic and sympathetic by nature. This characteristic allows us to be more human; to be emotional. It is the evidence of our soulish realm; which is the ability to feel, love, be anxious, and even experience hateful emotions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being identified with any of these characteristics. It actually proves that we are nothing but matter. Nevertheless, this gets out of hand when you allow your emotions to rule over your life, and to solely determine how you relate and interact with others. These emotions can be experienced but should not be allowed to thrive over lives in a sinful way.
In Galatians 5:22-23, self-control is listed as one of the fruits of the spirit which is an evidence of Christ in us. So, the ability to hold yourself back from overstepping your emotions is Christlike.
When you allow your emotions to lead you, you are bound to walk right into sin. Even though it is natural to express these emotions, you’d be found acting contrary to what God expects of you. lt is natural to express anger when one offends you however, it becomes dangerous when it takes over your reasoning. If given the power over your life, anger is capable of physically, emotionally and psychologically others.
Also, love is an emotion that we are admonished to express at all times. In fact, it is deemed as one of the greatest emotions and was practically emulated by Christ when He died for our salvation. However, there is a point where the expression of this emotion becomes sinful. When you allow the love for someone or an achievement to supersede the love for God, this can be identified as idolization.
Therefore, though the expression of emotions is a natural phenomenon, it must be done in accordance with the scriptures. Express all your emotions naturally but always be sure to hold your reins.
